Description

Tangential section through the anterior half of the cytopharyngeal basket. Drawings and discussion of the basket can be found in a paper by Tucker, J. Cell Science 3: 493-514, 1968. TEM taken on 4/1/69 by R. Allen with Philips 300 operating at 60kV. Neg. 3,570X. Bar = 2µm.

Technical Details

Standard glutaraldehyde fixation followed by osmium tetroxide, dehydrated in alcohol and embedded in an epoxy resin. Microtome sections prepared at approximately 75nm. A print of the negative was scanned and processed in Photoshop. This image is best used for qualitative analysis.
