Description

Thin section of a wildtype chloroplast of Arabidopsis thaliana showing the characteristic distribution of thylakoids membranes in stacked grana (black arrow) and unstacked stromal regions (white arrows). The other image in this group (CIL 39126) shows the result of deleting the FZL protein.

Technical Details

3-week old leaf tissue from Arabidopsis thaliana (eco-type Columbia - Col-0) was fixed, embedded in resin, and 70 nm serial sections cut, stained, and observed by transmission EM. See Fig 2 in H Gao et al, 2006. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 103:6759-6764.
