Teasels are thistle-like wild flowers that have long been used in traditional herbal medicine. Teasel root tea was once used to stimulate the appetite, reduce fluid retention and help some liver complaints. Bruised roots were used in an ointment to treat warts, and teasels were even used to ward off witches.
