Description

Transmission electron micrograph of rat heart cardiac muscle from the atrium showing the regular arrangement of the actin-myosin myofilaments in cross section and abundant mitochondria. This 1958 TEM image has historical value as one of the earliest views of cardiac muscle ultrastructure. Image made available by James D. Jamieson and the Department of Cell Biology, Yale University School of Medicine.

Technical Details

Original 3.25 in. x 4 in. lantern slides were scanned at 600dpi. Original Magnification: x16,000.
