Description

Figures 382 (upper) and 383 (lower) from Chapter 15 (Cytoplasmic Inclusions) of 'The Cell, 2nd Ed.' by Don W. Fawcett M.D. Type-e cell from acinus type III of the salivary gland of the tick Rhipicephalus appendiculatus. At high magnification (inset, upper panel) the contents of these secretory granules appear to be composed of minute, granular subunits. Additional dense components appear to be added after the granule has formed (lower, arrows). A PDF copy of the accompanying chapter is available on the ASCB’s BioEDUCATE website.
